Dr. Waqas Haque

Dr. Waqas Haque is an incoming oncology fellow physician at University of Chicago and trained at NYU Langone for Internal Medicine in a Clinical Investigator Track. Dr. Haque attended medical school at UT Southwestern, where he graduated with a Distinction in Clinical Research and served as a school delegate for the Texas Medical Association. He also holds a Masters of Public Health degree from Johns Hopkins, where he was specialized in health management and was selected as a Sommer Scholar, the school’s highest award for public health students. Prior to medicine, Dr. Haque pursued a master’s degree in business at Cambridge University in England, where he earned a Distinction for his research on how physiologic features (such as a voice pitch and facial symmetry) impact executive compensation in boardroom settings. His clinical and health policy research is published in leading journals, including JAMA, JAMA Internal Medicine, and JAMA Oncology. He co-founded Muslims in Medicine, a large network connecting early-stage trainees and physicians to promote Muslim leadership in healthcare. He envisions a career in oncology drug development and has aided companies including Regeneron, OneOncology, and Sarepta Therapeutics in business development and clinical trials operations.
