Salma Saifuddin
DO Candidate, Year 3, Rowan–Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine
Salma Saifuddin is a third-year medical student at Rowan–Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley, and brings prior experience as a Product Manager in the technology sector, where she developed an interest in innovation and systems-based approaches to healthcare.
Born and raised in California as the daughter of Pakistani immigrants, Salma is particularly interested in the intersections of medicine, community health, and culturally responsive care. Her academic and professional journey reflects a commitment to improving healthcare delivery through both clinical practice and broader public health perspectives.
Outside of her medical training, Salma enjoys reading Urdu poetry, swimming, and learning Spanish.
Internship Experience & Impact
Salma Saifuddin’s internship with II&M provided a unique opportunity to explore Islamic bioethics beyond the traditional medical curriculum. Through coursework and mentorship, she engaged with ethical questions at the intersection of medicine, faith, and emerging topics such as AI and human consciousness.
The experience strengthened her confidence in discussing these issues with peers and shaped how she approaches her future career as a physician. Her journey reflects II&M’s role in supporting the development of thoughtful, values-driven healthcare professionals.
