This three-hour workshop will provide attendees with insights into the growing field of Islamic Bioethics and cover critical ethical perspectives surrounding infertility treatment options such as IVF, egg donation, sperm donation, surrogacy, adoption, and the more recent procedure – uterine transplantation. At the same time, the workshop will explore concepts of motherhood, and how infertility is viewed by the normative Islamic teachings vs. its social construction in Muslim societies. It will also equip participants with heuristics, moral frameworks, and resources to utilize when faced with, or supporting those, navigating the complexities of the different ART choices.
