Workshop Overview

Join us for a community education workshop exploring the intersection of Islamic values, clinical decision-making, and end-of-life healthcare. Designed for community members and healthcare professionals, this session will address common questions surrounding advance care planning, serious illness, hospice, and end-of-life decisions through an Islamic bioethical framework.

The workshop will feature Dr. Aasim I. Padela, Founder of the Initiative on Islam and Medicine, and Dr. Ramy Y. Salah, Medical Director of outpatient and home-based palliative care at Sutter Health. Together, they will connect Islamic teachings with the realities of the U.S. healthcare system and provide practical guidance for patients, families, caregivers, and clinicians navigating complex healthcare decisions.

Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of available end-of-life care options, the role of Islamic ethics in healthcare decision-making, and practical tools for having informed conversations with families and healthcare teams.Lunch will be provided by UMMA Health.
